Each kit is carefully curated with products that allow pet parents to aid their pet in a medical crisis.
RangerAid kits should be reviewed by a licensed veterinarian prior to use to ensure the products included can be used by your individual pets
(I.E., some pets may have allergies or conditions that don't allow them to use products considered safe for most pets.)
- Bactine single use packets
Bactine is a pet-safe antibacterial product to help prevent infection. We use bactine instead of other available options because bactine has been deemed safe by multiple sources for surface use on dogs.
- Diphenhydramine (Generic version of popular, pet-approved antihistimine)
This is a packet with 1 caplet - 25mg of the generic version of a well known allergy medicine that has been recommended by multiple sources for dogs. Please check with your vet to ensure the dosage is safe for your specific pet, as it varies by weight.
This medication can be used in situations including bee stings and exposure to skin irritants or allergens.
RangerAid includes iodine wipes rather than alcohol wipes because alcohol wipes are not considered pet-safe. Alcohol wipes are known to strip valuable oils from your pet's skin and fur, whereas iodine is a safe alternative to help clean and disinfect cuts, scraps, burns and other small wounds.
Like iodine, saline is safe for use on pets, and won't strip their fur or skin of important natural oils. Saline is a safe alternative to help wipe away debris, clean noses and cleaning the surface area near eyes.
- Disposable (Non-Latex) gloves
Our gloves are to help keep pet parents safe in addition to their pets. Not only do gloves help provide a barrier to accidentally exposing wounds to bacteria and pet parents to blood, but they can double as a great way to gather and contain trash created during the use of kit products.
The gloves are also handy when having to gather stool samples for your pet's veterinarian.
We chose reusable metal tweezers to provide a product that will last. These tweezers are perfect for plucking ticks, sticker burrs, grass seeds and more from your pet's coat and skin. As with any tick removal, be careful, and ensure the pest is removed in its entirety.
- A Roll of 1" Vet Wrap - 5 yard roll (assorted colors)
Vet wrap is a type of self adhesive bandage commonly used by veterinarians. This product allows pet parents to safely wrap a wound in instances where travel is necessary or to help staunch bleeding. Vet wrap helps keeps pets from licking their wounds.
Vet wrap has an elastic quality that can cause tightness when applied. While the pressure is necessary with active bleeding, we do not recommend leaving tightly wrapped bandages on your pet for any longer than necessary. For longer-term use (like multiple hours), consider applying in a way that does not create circulation issues. Most veterinarians and their technicians are able to demonstrate this.
